Fractals under surreal constraints
My current series depicts an Earth going off the rails, populated by troubled characters. I examine the human condition and portray the existential hell of individuals on the brink of breakdown, trapped in repetitive routines and subjected to absurd constraints.
The geometry of the series is built around recurring lines (wall patterns, tiles, furniture, railings, hedges...), creating a sense of confinement around the characters, but also tracing overlooked paths and possibilities they fail to see. Through its rigour, it offers an ironic counterweight to the psychological chaos engulfing them.
Dominated by blue - a deceptively restrained blue infiltrated by red and charged with a latent violence ready to erupt - the series turns the home and domestic spaces, and, by extension, intimate and family relationships, into a territory of tension where reality gradually begins to falter, in step with human unravelling.
Extrasolar utopias
In this series, and in its Nebula Bay sub-series, I explore dystopian worlds shaped by science fiction and cosmology, a kind of contemporary Twilight Zone in which exoticism is merely a deceptive backdrop, concealing the catastrophe brewing beneath the surface. Environmental issues - climate change, drought, storms and tsunamis, the disappearance of wildlife and insects - form its thematic core. From scene to scene unfolds the story of a world caught on the brink of environmental catastrophe.
