THE CRACK
It cracks beneath the pavement.
A tunnel of thick blackness,
caught in a funnel,
you no longer vibrate.
Earth-toned houses,
and a leaden sky
over terracotta roofs.
Earth beside.
You drift
beside
yourself.
Broken asphalt,
greyed-out options,
you fade beneath your own shadow.
Obscure dead end.
You zigzag
under clouds of a storm
that never breaks.
Shattered mirages
on the asphalt.

You laze beside the fault line,
in your bubble.
At the edge of your crack,
you grow tired of your leash.
You zigzag.
Tiny.
The fissure in your walls
whispers a departure
without hope and without joy.
A voyage ultramarine,
and into the cosmos,
the light.
Suburb Blues.
